Dr. Robert Nascimento treats patients across the full range of shoulder and knee conditions, from overuse injuries and arthritis to ligament tears and complex reconstructions.
Dr. Nascimento received his master's of science degree in chemistry and biochemistry at the University of California, Los Angeles, and his medical degree from the University of Massachusetts Medical School. He completed his orthopedic surgery residency training at the University of Massachusetts Medical School and his fellowship in sports medicine at Boston University.
He is Assistant Clinical Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at Tufts University School of Medicine and Instructor of Orthopedic Surgery at Harvard Medical School.
Dr. Nascimento has a long track record caring for athletes at every level, from elite professionals to weekend warriors. His clinical interests include shoulder instability and dislocation, complex shoulder reconstruction, meniscal and cartilage repair, and complex ligament reconstruction of the knee, using advanced arthroscopic and open techniques to maximize outcomes. His recent research has focused on novel pain control methods for shoulder surgery, ACL repair, and recurrent shoulder instability treated with bone transfer (Latarjet).

Erin McGovern, PA-C
Physician Assistant
Erin grew up in Natick, Massachusetts, and completed her undergraduate degree at Marist College. She worked as an athletic trainer for seven years, first at a high school in Baltimore and later at the College of the Holy Cross, before earning her master's degree from Misericordia University. She has been practicing as a physician assistant in sports medicine since 2024.
